Big news!

It’s been an exciting (and very busy!) few months in the Roddy home — not to mention a true test of Ty's time management skills. In February, after a year of dating his girlfriend Ashley, he decided to propose, with the hope of squeezing in a wedding and honeymoon in the two weeks between his spring study abroad in Asia/Pacific and his summer internship in Seattle.

Honestly, Jack and I were initially thinking why not wait until after the summer as three months wasn't much time to prepare. But it was understandable why neither of them were excited about spending a summer apart after what would have been already spending a spring term apart so from that moment we all went into turbo mode! From the engagement to the study abroad to a bachelor party here in Utah, to a beautiful wedding and reception in Idaho, to a honeymoon in Mexico, an open house here in Utah, an internship in Washington, and a move back to Utah for fall semester —it was a wild 6 months for them! Thankfully, Ashley was a champ during Ty’s study abroad, juggling wedding and reception planning and fall housing for the two of them while I handled a wedding luncheon, honeymoon details, an open house in Utah and housing for their summer internship.

To add to the chaos, Ty, with less than three days to his wedding calls me in a panic from Tokyo alerting me he had shown up at the wrong airport to catch his flight home.  Talk about a heart stopper...thankfully with the help of Google and researching online how best to get him from one airport in Tokyo to another, and him keeping his eyes open for a shuttle that supposedly went between the two airports, catastrophe was avoided...

Ty’s never been one to slow down (honestly, I’m not sure he’s stopped moving since the day he came out of my belly), so he knew it was move fast on Ashley or possibly miss out —and how grateful we are for how things turned out.  Not only does she fit in so well with our family and he with hers but they also share a love for many of the same things including golfing, skiing, boating, gaming, even flag football... not to mention she's smart, organized and great at tolerating Ty's goofy, silly side!  Here are a few of the highlights!

A chilly but sweet proposal on top of one of the ledges here in Red Ledges!  2.22.25

A fun dress shopping outing that Ashley was so sweet to include Sage and I in.

Sage's first time being a bridesmaid!  What a special invite.

It's getting real!  Here they are with their official Idaho wedding license that they applied for while out in Pocatello for the engagement photos since there would be no time after that!

The bridal photos: Looks can be deceiving but it was literally just above freezing temps in the Provo canyon when they took these beautiful photos at like 8:00 a.m! 4.19.25

Soon to be...

The bachelor party! Four square pickleball is a favorite for this crew! 5.29.25

The big day! 5.31.25.
Our soon to be married son and our married son and daughter in law! How can this be?!?

I had never expected to have the wedding luncheon at the church but when we learned that there are really no restaurants that could host our size of a group  in Pocatello we were really left with no other option.  But with the help of Ashley's family, dear friends and family we were able to pull off a great afternoon! From the food to Jack's karaoke performance to watching Ashley perform on her guitar a beautiful song she made for Ty, it was so fun! I don't know what I would have done without the Simon family and my dear friend Amy and her daughter Casey though who were lifesavers to me in pulling this off!

Between the luncheon and the reception it was so fun to hang out at the Simon's home.  They were such gracious hosts as we really didn't have anywhere to go.  After spending some time with them we made our way to the beautiful reception which took place just outside Pocatello on the Snake river.  What a beautiful venue!

So sweet to watch my parents be the last ones standing on the dance floor during the contest for having been married the longest!  And then the dance party began...

What would I do without Amy!  Always such a great friend and support.

What a beautiful day with such beautiful people to celebrate with us.
