Moving to Utah was nothing like our past moves. No house to sell, no furniture to move, no schools to enroll kids in... not nearly as stressful. But there was still a lot to prepare for and think about. We decided it would be best to have movers bring out all the important/extra/valuable stuff, including the guns, china, important files, all the extra bedding and kitchenware, sentimental items like scrapbooks, books, sports memorabilia, holiday/Christmas decor, etc. shortly after we got the keys to the house back in November. I knew the end of the school year for Sage would be busy and the last thing I would want to be doing amongst her birthday/grad party and rowing regattas was deal with movers so it was good to get that out of the way long before we officially relocated. Who would have guessed over 200+ boxes would end up making their way across the country but that's what it took!
The original plan was to relocate to Utah right after Sage graduated, get settled, and then spend a week in Fl every six weeks or so. Well, the returning to FL every six week or so hasn't been happening. Instead we found ourselves in no rush to leave the perfect Utah summer weather for the hot, humid, Florida summer weather so Florida would have to wait for us a bit longer.
Our happy place...where we hope to create many memories and welcome family and friends.
What a treat it is to wake up on most mornings and see a bunch of hot air balloons in the distance. The evening view is pretty spectacular also.
While she was so sad to leave her friends and the life she knew in Florida, Sage seems to be managing in Utah just fine. Within a couple days of arriving she found a job at the local Best Western where she works at the front desk! It may not be the most exciting job but it paid well and was the perfect 20 hour a week job! When she wasn't at work she could be found laying out or hanging out with some new friends from the neighborhood!
Of course it didn't take long before Nova claimed his "spot" on the couch! A perfect place for him to see everything that was going on both inside and outside the house.

Most of our summer was spent on the golf course but here are a few other highlights:

Jack has been looking forward to taking the whole family to the Lehi Roundup for years! It finally happened...
Our first time on Jordanelle and we even talked Grandpa into coming! It was a bit chillier than we had expected but we still had a great time!
Seeing old friends! And by old, I mean friends I have known since my Ricks College days like my roommate Wendy and her sister Carrie, and Gina!
How sweet it was to spend an afternoon in Cedar City with President and Sister Leavitt, (Jack's mission president) . It was so so fun to listen to them reminisce of the mission days.
And of course it wouldn't be summer without celebrating Grandpa! Happy 81st birthday Grandpa!
