End of year celebrations!

Thankfully Sage's senior year got off without a hitch and what a strong year she had both academically and socially.  The icing on the cake was unlike her brothers who had their senior year cut short by Covid, she was able to participate in all the traditional and fun end of year senior events!  From Senior Sunrise to Senior Sunset to Senior Walkout to Senior Prom to an actual graduation, she got to experience a true senior year.

Once again senior portraits were upon us and I had yet to book a photographer.  Sure, the school takes a senior photo during the summer before her senior year for the yearbook but we had talked about hiring a professional to take some photos closer to the end of her senior year.  Well.....that didn't happen so once again we were dusting off my nice but very old camera in an attempt to capture a few shots.  Thankfully with such a pretty subject to photograph, the photos turned out better than we thought minus the shadows haha~ Here are a few of my favorites!

Here are a couple shots from senior walk out.  This is where the seniors are released early and exit to a crowd of parents cheering them on as they make their way to the parking lot. Of course before they make their way to the parking lot, the parents have decorated their cars.   I love these fun traditions and am so glad we got to at least experience them with Sage.  As a footnote, yes...Sage finished off her senior year driving the Escalade. Between reversing into a cop in the Rover and getting pulled over for speeding within months of getting her license, it was time for a change...haha!  

Our bishop was so sweet and wanted to make certain we had a night that celebrated our seniors. So we were each asked to bring some items that reflected their accomplishments during high school and then the parents were asked to prepare some remarks.   Living just minutes from the "happiest" place on earth, I always liked how Bishop Black referred to himself as the Bishop of the "happiest" ward on earth.  One things is for sure...these four graduates are very happy to be moving on to this next chapter.

When I learned Sage was going to be honored for a special high school award while I was out in Utah I felt terrible.  I hadn't received much notice and the email from the school was vague about what the recognition was for.  She insisted I not change my flight and said it wasn't a big deal.  Well I felt bad.  She was originally thinking she would go with a friend but after calling a few friends, she learned they either hadn't been notified so weren't invited or they were not going to be able to make it.  To my surprise she asked if it would be ok if she called her old boyfriend's mom.  I was a bit shocked but at the same time thought how sweet it was that she felt comfortable enough asking her to accompany her.  Thankfully Dawnell jumped into action with literally just minutes notice, and met Sage at the school just as the award ceremony was gong to start.  It takes a village and how grateful I am for nice friends who love my kids and have always made a point to help out when I'm in a bind.  Here is our sweet girl being recognized for all her AP courses she took.
